Perhaps our most unusual and definitely most complicated Currency Presentation, the "Design Variations of the Small Size $5 Note" includes 15 examples of design changes starting with 1928 and ending with the 1995 Series, the last year before the obverse was changed to the enlarged oval portrait of Lincoln offset slightly to the left of center. Each note is not only an example of the design changes but has something very unique about, particularly the Serial Number. All notes shown are slight enlargements made from crisp, uncirculated collector's examples, the finest specimens known. In addition to the 15 legitimate designs, five error notes have been included as an extra conversation attraction. The error notes included are as follows:
  • 1981 Federal Reserve Note missing the third printing entirely.
  • 1988A Federal Reserve Note Cutting and Printing error.
  • 1974 Federal Reserve Note, Reverse printed on Obverse.
  • 1985 Federal Reserve Note has sticky Kraft packaging paper stuck to currency paper, was printed on top of scrap.
  • 1953 Silver Certificate - Third Printing was fed into press in wrong direction... Treasury Seal and Serial Numbers are upside down. Additionally, there is a Red striped BEP flag at the upper left corner but the note found its way into circulation anyhow.
