This $10 Legal Tender Note was printed by the American Bank Note Co., New York City and includes the patented "Canada Green" tint advocated by that firm. To the left is a portrait of Abraham Lincoln engraved by Frederick Girsch and was adapted from a cabinet photograph by C.S. German. At the center of the face of banknote is a patriotic eagle vignette, originally engraved for Toppan Carpenter (ABNCo) and was used earlier on state-chartered bills. To the right is a standing goddess holding an easel, variously labeled Art or Painting.
